Standard Complaint against Primerica

I was involved with Primerica for about 1 1/2 yrs. and went no where. Yes, it does take a lot of committment but to go and recruit people just for the sake of getting promotions is not right. You're told by RVPs you are the next up and coming RVP and going to make a boatload of $$! When I joined I was told by my RVP if I were to go full time I was to get not only my life license but my securities as well. This past fall put the final chapter in my Primerica episode as I went to a heirarchy event. My RVP was with one of his uplines spouse and completely shunned me from introducing me to her. But he made sure to introduce her to 3 of his newly appointed recruits (ages 19, 21 and 23!!) whom at the time weren't even licensed but were full time staff!! So much for his strict rules for full time agents!! They're all full of hot air, so if you don't want to become someones mule, don't do it!

  1. let me get this straight, You were not doing anything (Went no where) and you want some one to introduce you to someone that is their mentor? I guess you missed the fact that time is a commodity that is limited.
So you joined a group of sales people, who leader said you can make lots of money. Sounds like any sales force to me.
Did they train you? Did they give you the necessary skills needed to win? Most companies expect you to do this on your own. I understand they have training at least once a week.
As for the requirement of getting your licenses before going full time, and then he changed his mind, may be he adjusted his thinking. That is what good leaders do. They look at what is going on and makes changes.
I thought Primerica was a way of life, not just a job. Maybe that is something you missed. You do not recruit people to get promotions, I thought you recruited people to get a team so you can retire. That is what most businesses do, recruit people so the work is lower and the money is bigger.
You said it well it takes work and most people are not willing to do that. But as for being someones mule, what do you think employees get? They get paid less, work harder and are told they should be thankful they have a job. They do not get to chose their hours of work nor do they get to chose where they work.

  2. Primerica has great philosophy but few competitive products! Buy term and invest the rest! Check out a securities company with open source term insurance. www.pfs.thomasfinancialgroup.net Webinar Business briefing on Thursday 7:30pm Pacific time. http://webinar.thomasfinancialgroup.net Please contact me if you want to discuss. steve.smit@thomasfinancialgroup.ent

  3. Primerica has ruined our family. My husband has left me to live with his Primerica upline and he has brought our 3 year old daughter with him. He is supposudly a "Christian" man who wants nothing but for our marriage to succeed (ha ha!) and he basically steals my husband away and makes him go to appointments and trainings which provide NO income. That is why I am alone in our house on a Saturday night typing this comment.
My poor husband has lost a loving wife for this company. Please do not join it, just buy your own insurance easily online.

    1. I understand what you mean. It ruined my marriage as well. My husband has deserted me for Primerica. Bad part is, I introduced him to the "business" and I left because I realized it was not doing anything good for my family. He joined and quit his job. Has not worked in over 3 years and tells me that my $70,000/yr is nothing even though I am the only breadwinner. He's leaving because I won't join the "business" I have to keep a roof over my head and he only make 750/month if anything. Yes it can ruin your life, you marriage and your family depending on who you are dealing with if the base shop has a cult like environment, which this one does.

  4. This company is bullshit! I joined it in April of 2006 with my best friend. We thought it was a good oppurtunity. We were wrong!

I was belittled because no one I "invited" to be a guest would come. I had no one to do "interviews" with so they harassed me to no end. I finally snapped in August 2006 (one from being jobless for over 1 year and not going anywhere but down & for the attitude I got from the RVP). Pretty much told them all to go fuck themselves and they are nothing but scam artists and I am so sorry I was sucked into this shithole....As the weeks followed I found out not only my best friend (who was 6 months pregnant then and they told her she MUST come to the meetings weather she is able to drive or not) but my whole "team" followed suit because they heard of the mistreatment of me!

    Worst experience of my life!

  5. Primerica is a legitimate company, however, many of their representatives are very misleading to new recruits.

I was approached by a lower-level representative while working part-time at a department store. The representative complimented my customer service skills and said that her employer might be interested in offering me a position (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the impression she gave me). She asked for my name and phone number so she could give it to her boss. I was a little leery, but desperate for a better job, so I gave her the information.

That evening, her boss called me for a "phone interview." He told me he worked for a PFS office, and that they were expanding their business. He asked me if I had experience training new recruits. I said I had only a little experience, but he told me he wanted to "interview" me with a group of people anyway. We "scheduled" the "interview" on the following Thursday.

Once the I and the other recruits were in the office, the recruiter was upfront about us becoming independent contractors and not employers. I was asked to pay a $99 fee for a background check. I went ahead and paid it, hoping I could make something of this opportunity. I also paid the recommended (but not required) $25 fee for one month of their sales training website.

Fortunately, I only stayed with PFS for one month and was able to get MOST of my fees refunded. During that month, I attended their pumped-up meetings and was encouraged to invite my family and friends to the weekly meetings and recruit them. I asked why PFS needed so many recruits. They claimed that PFS would "go public" within a year (this was in January of 2010), and they wanted many trained sales reps to be ready for the day when clients would FLOCK to their offices.

It's become apparent that "going public" was a lie and that the only way to make a lot of money with PFS is to recruit people to work under you.

However, they do offer legitimate life insurance. I still have a term life policy with them because it was cheaper and a better value than my old policy. It's just that the life policies have a very small commission, so PFS pushes recruiting instead of selling insurance.

  6. The Company did go "public" April 1st 2010, and was the #1 performing IPO on the stock market that year.

  7. @apaull - As I see it, you have two options:
    1. Be mad that you have a trifling husband who can't make decisions for himself
    2. Quit being selfish and short-sighted, and support the man you married.

Either way, it doesn't sound like the company is the issue. I'm just saying.

  8. @rattlesnake - I agree. Primerica Reps need to be upfront about the opportunity. It's too good to under or oversell. It's tough to win in business and people should be told that. It takes work, commitment, sacrifice, and getting out of the comfort zone. My wife and I have been involved since July and have seen considerable success. We are almost making part-time with Primerica what she is making on her full-time job. Hopefully, I will be able to get her off that job. You CAN make something of the opportunity if you are willing to put forth the effort.

However, Primerica did go public and was rated as one of the best performing IPO's of the year in 2010(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3paVBOMe0A).
